John and Jill, his wife, met while both were  serving with the United States Marines!   Pastor John is a man with a gift. He has a wonderful ability to remember people and important details about their lives. This comes from a genuine interest and concern for others. He has a great sense of humor that pulls from a lifetime of experiences covering a broad range of events. Come to one of our worship services and experience the excitement, laughter, and learning this man of God brings.       Jill, aka 'Baby', is an elementary school teacher here in Frederick. She brings much enthusiasm wherever she is. She plays the guitar, sings with our ladies group, and adds a unique touch of encouragement to John.   The Horton's have three sons.   Tom, the oldest son, is a chemist.    Tim, the middle son, now works with the Wounded Warriors in Texas.  Tim sustained the loss of a leg but did not let that slow him down. Not a bit! This gives him a unique understanding of what others have experienced in combat.   Jake is the youngest son. He and  Erica, his wife, have a beautiful baby girl and a little brother. The family lives here in Frederick. Jake has seen action in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ministry Statement of Joey Zodrow:
"My ministry goals are to help people develop deeper, positive relationships with both their leaders and each other, guide them to a closer walk with their Lord Jesus Christ, help them mature in the Word, lead them in discovering their mission, and to make Christ known throughout the world."

In his personal testimony, Joey says he was raised a pastor's son and comes from a family rich with ministers - pastors, music ministers, youth leaders, pianists, organists, Sunday School teachers and directors. He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 7. He shares he has had many, strong role models who have helped shape who he is in Christ today and has the desire to be that same kind of influence for those under his care.

Joey graduated from Skiatook High School in 1996. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in English from Oklahoma State University in 2002. (He assured us he is a Sooner at heart.) He has completed coursework toward a Masters in Ministry from John Brown University in 2009. Joey was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Joey and Haley were married in 1999. She has a Bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Tulsa and is currently an RN in the NICU at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. They have three children: Joseph William Zodrow V - born October 25, 2004, Sarah Grace Zodrow - born Marth 15, 2007, and John Hollis Zodrow - born November 4, 2010. The family currently lives in Miami, Oklahoma. Since 2005 Joey has served as the Student Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Miami.

His ministry over the years has included a broad assortment of opportunities to serve our Lord:

Worship leader

Directing choirs for the youth, ensemble and adults

Filling the pulpit for the pastor when needed

Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma

Southern Gospel Quartet

Coordinating Sunday Night group studies

Coordinating youth camps for his church and its association

Participating in developing church's intern music program, overseeing the duties of the intern

Developing an outreach program for the church

Developing small group ministries

Developing Christian educational programs

Leading services at the local nursing homes

Active in community organizations outside the church
